Tandridge Tories threw their big guns at Lib Dem group leader Chris Botten and Valley's Jill Caudle to no avail. Chris and Jill (pictured) retained their seats against the national trend of Lib Dem losses.

Tory County Councillor for Caterham Valley Sally Marks was confident of knocking Chris Botten out of Portley ward after 15 years of service on Tandridge District Council but failed by 37 votes. Even more confident, former TDC councillor Matt Groves was told by his election team he had beaten Jill Caudle in Valley even before the count had started! Fortunately Jill's overwhelming personal vote, built up over many years of hard work helping local residents, was enough to see her re-elected with a majority of 59.

Congratulations to Stuart Paterson and Robert Wingate on their election to Oxted parish Council.
